68th San Francisco International Film Festival is starting this week. I couldn't do a proper curtain raiser but here is a list of films I've previously reviewed
I have been credentialed for Tribeca-god help us all

THE MIX is the first film from In the Garage Productions. Its the story of a guy who makes a deal involving cookies and having it all go south. He then kidnaps the guy who wronged him and the rest is the film.
This is a great film that score big points due to the cast and the script which has some truly wonderful exchanges. If you want to know why I like the In The Garage guys you can see it in this film which is actually one of the best they've done.
It can be found on various streaming services and is worth your time.
(I should have done a longer review but life go in the way- all you need to know is just see it)

I think a huge problem with the big Hollywood properties is they never go away any more.
We never stop talking Marvel or Disney or super heroes or fast and the furious or Avatar or James Bond. It’s just constant flooding of the material. We can never step away.
Back in the late 70s and 80’s there was always break in between. Even when we knew stuff was something was coming it wasn’t in our face. Now it's everywhere for all time ---until it's not
I’m tired of seeing the same crap endlessly.

I've seen Wicked a second time
I really think it doesn't work. They crafted a crowd pleaser and killed the show.
Worse they did nothing to shore up Glinda, so she is a truly crappy role now

I had mentioned this pausing sort of thing in regard to coverage. I'm still being hyper careful in what I pick.
The plan was to use it to play catch up but the truth is I'm just not watching as much of anything. Partly due to the day job and partly due to disinterest.
Largely its being used as an excuse to navel gaze and annoy my friends by not going anywhere to see them.
I'm slowly trying to get back to watching things and see friends but the unevenness of my choices are making it hard to get thrilled about anything. I know I would soldier on but the films are not sparking a real desire to discuss them and I don't want to spend time fighting to have words come.
That said I do have feelers out about a few festivals so we'll see what happens.

As regular readers probably know the week of Thansgiving I generally do a week of turkeys, aka bad films to avoid.
Last year I did a week of early 80's films that misfired and no one tals about. I had a blast doing it since I revisited films I hadn't seen in years. But it took me a while to actually do the writing so I started months early...
And when I finished writing I wanted to do it again, but I couldn't come up with anything....
Until a tweet made me realize that I hadn't reviewed two certain films....soooooooo I did a quick search and realized that there are a number of "atypical Disney films" that are really not talked about. So I have a list of 8 choices.
What I decide to actually write up will be posted in November.
