Sue Carpenter started a pirate radio station in her living room in the late 1990's and changed the lives of everyone who heard it.
This is the rise and fall of a two pirate radio stations KPBJ and KBLT which ran out of Carpenter's living room. The station had DJs who were members of various well known groups and it played the music that they wanted to hear. The station eventually ran afoul of the FCC but for a few years it made music and delighted fans.
This is a pure nostalgia trip. Exploring not just the life of the station, the film delves into the why and hows that successful radio stations exist. Why do some stations have rabid fans and others don't?
As a radio guy I found this film fascinating. I discovered so much I never knew and finally understood why certain things clicked with me. It made me realize that given the opportunity I and my friends might have stormed the airwaves ourselves.
What an absolute delight.
Highly recommended.
