I finally saw THE PEOPLE’S JOKER. It’s the much talked about film that almost fell off the face of the earth thanks to writer director and star Vera Drew not clearing it with DC.
The film is a trans coming out film set in the DC universe.
My thoughts on the film are that had the film not been temporarily shut down by DC/Warners the film probably would not have had as long a life as it has. Yes, it would have developed a cult following, it is a good film, but I don’t know if it would be as well-known as it is. Don’t get me wrong I like the film, but I’m not sure it’s worthy of the acclaim it has gotten. I think it's people standing up for a film that almost got lost.
Is it worth seeing? Yes, but I think it’s going to play best if you connect to its story.
