Nick Frost writes and stars in a film about a family going to a remote Swedish island for a holiday during a festival celebrating when the island was quarantined for three years and everyone turned to cannibalism to survive. The locals don't like anyone, especially jolly English families.
This is a broad and bloody horror comedy that tries to be crazily over the top. Whether you like the film is going to depend upon whether you buy into the very broad comedy and the turns you can see a mile away.
Sadly I didn't connect with the film. The film's insistence on being my best buddy didn't work for me and I kind of felt like I was stuck in a pub with a drunk guy who wouldn't shut up or putting his arm around me. It's not bad if you like that sort of thing but the film doesn't do anything new, more so when you realize early on that there is a twist coming and that you know what it's going to be.
Not my cup of tea.
