2024 Catch Up Capsule Reviews Part 1: CIVIL WAR,SASQUATCH SUNSET, JEANNE DU BARRY, FURIOSA, FRIDA, BOB MARLEY ONE LOVE, PICTURES OF GHOSTS, VENOM TIL DEATH DO THEY PART, and CHALLENGERS

CIVIL WAR
Messy film about a new American civil war is set in a world that doesn't really make a hell of a lot of a sense. This is a film made to push buttons, not to really tell a story.

SASQUATCH SUNSET
The life of a bunch of sasquatch. You either buy this or you don't. I didn't

JEANNE DUBARRY
Great looking film that should win every technical award. I just wish I could remember what it was about (I was too busy looking at the costumes)

FURIOSA
Prequel to MAD MAX ROAD FURY is a perfectly made film. The problem is it's so perfectly constructed it's so slick I could never get in it.

FRIDA
A mix of Frida Kahlo's work and art. This is an excellent film that will get you to go out and chase down Kahlo's work.

BOB MARLEY ONE LOVE
Despite having moments this is a rather dull look at Marley and his importance to Jamaica.

PICTURES OF GHOSTS
Kleber Mendonça Filho looks at his life through looking at his home town,  movies and movie houses. It's a very good film that I  had been chasing for months - only to find I don't have a lot to say about the film.

VENOM: LAST DANCE
Final? Venom film is the weakest of the bunch. The bits work but the whole plot doesn't work

CHALLENGERS
Dullest of Luca Guadagnino film I've seen involving a love triangle among tennis players
