Will Farrell goes with a road trip with his friend Harper. Harper recently transitioned from male to female and the two hit the road to figure it all out.
Surprisingly touching and at times deeply moving film about life and how friends are friends regardless.
Yes the film is funny and yes the films is staged to some degree, but at the same time a great deal clearly wasn’t. The conversations may occasionally feel like they may have come from a suggestion, but at the same time the emotions expressed are real. Things don’t feel rehearsed. This is largely just a couple of guys hanging out.
It’s a delight.
I was moved several times.
Would I say its one of the best documentaries of the year? Honestly no. I would however argue it’s one of the most important because the fact that Farrell is attached may help people realize there is no big deal about someone being trans, it’s just life.
Highly recommended for the subject and the laughs
