This is a look at two deaf gay men who are raising some children together in NYC. It’s a loving portrait of the men and their families. It’s a film that over comes any short comings via the charisma of the people at the center. Yes, it’s a portrait of gay men and their family, but the more important thing is that this is a sweet portrait of a group of people we really like.
A good as the film is, and as much as I would love to support the film by having it part of some awards, I think in a weird way the film plays better without expectations. I went into the film expecting the film to be at a certain thing because it’s in the mix of a project I'm working on. It wasn’t until I let the film be what the film is about, 10 or 15 minutes in, that I truly warmed to it. Much like I say about some films that go to festivals that get lost, this is a good film that needs not to be a in a crowd. Its super on it’s own terms that shouldn't be lost
