Lee Sun-kyun's final film is the story of a couple who are expecting their first child. Things become complicated when the Sun-kyun's character begins sleep walking... but is it something else like possesion.
This intimate horror comedy is a film that is one you need to stay with. The film is a film that moves at its own pace and in its own way. Its a film that shifts from comedy to horror to drama. Its a film that wants to explore what it means to be a new parent and what it's like to become sleep deprived. It's a film that ponders reality. At the same time it wants to make you chuckle before making you stare wide eyed in shock and horror as W...T...F drops out of our mouths.
I'm not going to lie, this film can be an uneven viewing experience. The shifts in tone can be a little grating. It's not that anything is bad, rather it's a matter of you're not certain as to what to feel or what the film is getting at. To be certain there are moments in the film that are magnificent (I love the medium), but it isn't always certain as to what this film is....
...and then the film moves int to the final 15 or so minutes and suddenly.... things become riveting ... and frankly bat shit crazy. I'm not saying a word as to what happens other than its going to make you talk to the screen.
If you can work with this film and it's rhythms, you are going to love this film.
