The Painter (2024) in theaters today and on VOD Tuesday

Former super CIA operative is set up by people in the CIA because they think he has a thumb drive full of information on a secret program to turn kids into super agents. He has to return to the life in order to keep has to return to the life in order to protect his family.

Entertaining in a non-demanding sort of way, THE PAINTER is a by the numbers film that we've seen any number of times, right down to the ending and the stinger set up for a sequel. It's so by the numbers that you'll know who the bad guy is early. While the film remains entertaining, I mean seeing Jon Voight wear a number of stupid disguises is amusing, there is zero suspense.  This is a film plotted by someone who saw some unremarkable thrillers and decided to try it themselves.

The action isn't bad but  they never feel like real fights since you can see the actors  walking through the choreography.

While it's good enough for a slow  evening on the couch, I can't in good conscious recommend paying to see this.
