This is not going to be a full review, instead consider this a pointer.
MIGRANT SEA is a multimedia documentary that chronicles the path that some African’s are taking to cross the Mediterranean Ocean to get to Italy consisting of short films, photos stories and audio documentaries. It’s a look at what the journey entails and how it affects everyone involved.
I was given access to the material pre festival, but because there is a lot of it I was only able to see a portion. What I’ve seen is excellent. Using it’s fragmented form it delves deeply into the situation and truly allows us to fully understand what is going on and who everyone is. Some times not having a to bend everything to a narrative thread works best because it allows things to be more fully explored.
If you have the time to really sit with it MIGRANT SEA is a must at Slamdance.
