Interesting experiment – this is a 41 minute single take set in a neighborhood café. People come and go, pausing occasionally to address the camera.
I’m not sure if this works, but it was interesting enough that it had me sitting watching it from start to finish during a lunch period. I’ve seen any number of single take films over the years and sometimes they work and some times they don’t. What intrigued me was the fact that it begins with a young man addressing the camera. I had thought that it was that they were talking to someone in the café, instead they are addressing us. It took me a few minutes until I realized that they were addressing us. By the time I realized that I was hooked and curious enough to stay with this slice o life until the end.
While nothing earth shaking it is entertaining and very well done and as such it’s worth a look.
