Brief NYFF 2023 reviews Un Rêve Plus Long Que La Nuit (dream Longer Than The Night), The Prince
Un Rêve Plus Long Que La Nuit (dream Longer Than The Night)
Dream like fantasy film made at a time when filmmakers were going back and using DIY drive to make films that were clearly not realistic and used child like design to examine adult concerns. (think Rohmer’s PERCEVEL). The film concerns a prncess who is magically made an adult and has run ins with various magical people Looking better than I’ve ever seen the film, this new restoration of the film is the way to see it. Sadly seeing the film for the first time in a long while I find that the films seems to have dated badly over the years and anything I found interesting in the film now lost to time.
A PRINCE
The story of a young man coming of age and his interaction with two older men with whom he has sexual relationships and who shape the direction of his life. This is a good film that I never warmed to. Presenting a look at life that is outside of my experience, I never connected to the film.
