In THE WORST ONES reality collides with fiction as a filmmaker tries to get kids in a poor area act in his film about kids living in a poor area. Things become complicated when the adults don’t want their neighborhood seen in a bad light.
An okay script is made more interesting by the hybrid nature of the telling. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what was real and what wasn't .
The kids in this film are really good. Actually if it wasn’t for the intrusion of a narrative this could actually be mistaken for a documentary because the kids are wonderfully unselfaware and just seem to be themselves on screen. There are times when they broke my heart because I knew what I was seeing wasn’t a performance but real life bleeding out behind their eyes.
Worth a look
