This is one of the must sees of DOC NYC and the year. This is a deeply moving story of some of the trans women in the 1950’s and 60’s who struggled to come out as who they really were and found a place in the Catskill Mountains, names Casa Susanna, where they could be themselves with less danger.
I have very little to say except that this film is stunning. I was moved to tears. I love that director Sébastien Lifshitz just lets the women speak. Who needs fancy tricks when words will suffice. And as such my words pale in comparison to these wonderful women.
A must see.
