An earthquake sends under ground nasties to the surface where they begin to grow and eat anything they encounter.
I’ve seen They Crawl Beneath twice and I liked it both times. It is not the greatest things since sliced bread, however it is an entertaining flick perfect for a low rainy Saturday on the couch. It’s the sort of thing that SYFY used to run but with less tongue in cheek.
What I like about the film is that the cast seems to be invested with what s happening on screen. While the performances are uneven, they are earnest, with everyone trying to sell the story of worm like monsters devouring the people in a small rural community.
What I love about the film is the fact that the creatures are largely practical. While there are a few CGI shots pretty much everything else are real beasties and the film is so much better for it since we feel it really is man vs beast. We don’t get that enough these days as everyone switches to cheap ass CGI.
As I said at the top this is an enjoyable film. It’s a delight for anyone who likes old school low budget monster movies.
Recommended for monster lovers.
