I’m sorry but this is going to be a short review. Not because it’s bad but more that it is a film that is beyond criticism. It’s just a great film.
I should start by saying that when you watch COME BACK ANY TIME, and it’s when as opposed to if, be sure you do so on a full stomach. Additionally be sure you have plans to eat afterward. I say this because even if you are full you will be hungry by the time it’s done.
COME BACK is the story of -Masamoto Ueda and his wife. They run a long standing ramen shop in Tokyo. The film is a loving portrait of the Uedas, their food and their customers. The customers are big part of the story here since there love for the food makes us want to hop on a plane and go try it ourselves. Understand that I am very serious about this- and I don’t particularly like Ramen but I want to go try this ramen.
I honestly don’t know what to say beyond this is a great film. It’s just a film that makes us feel good, and very hungry. This is a film that is good time with great people.(and it has a great score)
One of the very best films at DOC NYC and probably one of the year as well.
