Excellent drama about a woman who escapes from North Korea to South. Struggling to find a job, being from the north she is discrimated against and looked down upon despite the fact that she is highly intelligent. She eventually finds work cleaning a boxing gym and takes a shine to learning the sport.
This is a solid drama with a boxing background. Don’t go in looking for a Rocky-esque film, but the story of a fighter in every part of her life who refuses to stay down when life knocks her down. It’s a wonderful portrait of a woman trying to make her way despite road blocks being thrown in here way.
I fell into this and fell in love with it. It also has one of the best romantic exchanges I’ve seen in a film in years toward the end.
Highly recommended.
