A black actor finds his child hood computer and the video game he was making when he thought he was orange and not black. This makes him reconsider his life.
This short film packs a punch. It is a stunning little film about self identity and race. Its a film I was so floored by on the first time through that I had to go back and see it a second time.
Watching the film I was wondering who had made the film. Yes, I know it was Alexandre Desane, but all I could think was that this was lost part of Steve McQueen's Small Axe films. Then my thought shifted and I wanted to see what Desane would do if given the canvas that McQueen had with Small Axe. What sort of stories could Desane tell? I don't know but I want to see because his voice is so unique.
This is a killer film from a filmmaker who has an eye and sense of the world that makes us reconsider what we thought we knew all over again.
Highly recommended
