The story of a magician in the renaissance is a twisted one of a kind confection that is a must see. Told via cut out paper puppets, title cards and classical music this is just an absolute joy.
I started this series groaning. This was not something I was expecting. Worse it was not something that was looking like it was going to work. What's the deal with the cut outs? And then I just went with it. I let the episodes play out and suddenly I clicked with it. I got this big goofy smile on my face.
To be certain the series pushes things as far as it could go, I can't imagine it going any longer or that the style would work on other stories, but here, in this one off tale it works perfectly.
Highly recommended.
