This is the story of a group of young women in grade school who were brought together for ten week program where they would learn how to use video equipment to tell their stories, their way. Ten years later they were still together, still recording.
I'm not going to go talk a great deal about this film. This is way too special a film for me to ruin it. This is a lovely film that will make you smile and get misty and feel good at seeing some young women taking life head on.
While there is a lot I could say, what you need to know is that every year I see good number of similar films. There is a sameness to a lot of them. That isn't the case here. Here we are watching something special. Directors Nikiea Redmond and Kirsten D'Andrea Hollander made the right decision and seeming allowed the women to speak for themselves. Their lives and their choices shape the film and make it something special.
You may not understand that now but you will once you see it.
Highly recommended.
