Kinetics (2020) Reelabilities NYC 2020
Long short film (it runs around 50 minutes) about a teacher who is diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease and student with learning and emotional issues. Meeting when she discovers him practicing parkour at their school they form a bond.
Good but uneven and kind of criminally too short film has a great deal going on and feels a tad rushed. This is a story that needs room to breathe and it doesn’t always have it as we march through scenes at speed. The speedy pace is the difference between this being a good and great film. Frankly I would like to have seen more of both Sue Wylie and Roly Botha who deserve more screen time
It plays Reelabilties Thursday, April 2 | 6:15 p.m. as part of their virtual Film Festival. For more information on how to see it go here.
