Little Chief (2020) Sundance 2020

A teacher goes through her day trying to keep her classroom stocked and dealing with a student who needs attention.

I don’t know if this is a proof of concept film or not but director Erica Tremblay needs to expand this. Incredible performances and an amazing sense of place result in a film that leaves us wanting to know more. Not only do we need to know about the situation in the native American reservations and the schools, but we need to see more in the lives of these characters. Lily Gladstone and Julian Ballentyne have created two incredible characters and it would be a shame that they don’t live on for only 12 minutes. This film is a stunner.

A must at Sundance
