The Fable (2019) NYAFF 2019

Unbeatable assassin is given an impossible task by his boss, learn to be a regular guy and blend in. Under no circumstances is he to kill anyone. Of course he has to jump back into action in order protect someone from another assassin who wants to take his title as the best of the best.

Fish out of water action film has some great action sequences and some really good laughs making it a wonderful popcorn film. Unfortunately the film is also oddly paced. Running a couple of minutes over two hours the film has a leisurely pacing which somehow lessens the excitement. I never felt there was any real danger because the film never made me feel there was need to rush. I found it strange to watch the action take place, enjoy it but feel no urgency.

Reservations aside this is a good, if slightly disposable action film.
