In Brief: TRACES OF SIN (2017) NYAFF 2017
Sordid thriller has a reporter looking into a year old unsolved murder case where the victims seemed to be the perfect couple. However things in their lives are not as perfect as it seems.
Dark brooding film concerning how we all have a hidden side is an entertaining potboiler. Its bleakness from the get go, the reporters sister is in prison for neglecting her baby, kind of lessens the impact since we know from the mere feel of the film its going to end badly for everyone- and it does in spades.
Recommended for those who love the dark places that on Japanese films can go.
