Portrait of Gershon Luxemburg who runs a boxing club in the Katamon neighborhood of Jerusalem. We watch as Luxemburg and his boxers train, go to the National Championships and go through life.
Easily one of the better boxing documentaries of the last few years JERUSALEM BOXING CLUB works because Luxemburg is such a compelling character. A big gruff guy with a checkered past he clearly loves the kids he trains and desperately wants to teach them not only about boxing but life as well. An emotionally satisfying film we get caught up in both Luxemburg's story as well as those of his boxers and we rise and fall with their success.
Highly recommended.
The film plays Sunday the 8th and Wednesday the 11th. For more information and tickets go here.
